The Freedam brand
Why we called it Freedam
The name is “free” followed by DAM, short for digital asset management, and it is meant to sound like “freedom”. This page explains the name and the logo, and points to where you can download our brand files.
Where the name comes from
Most marketing teams keep their images and videos in a shared drive, and most of them have lost an afternoon looking for the right version of one photo. It is usually called something like final_v3_THIS-ONE.jpg, and there are three copies of it.
Digital asset management software, DAM for short, exists to fix that. It gives a team one library where photos, videos, logos and layouts can be searched, shared and downloaded in their current version.
We named ours Freedam for two reasons. It reads as free DAM, and there is a free plan with no time limit. It also sounds like freedom, because brand files are made to be used: they should reach the campaign, the partner or the retailer who needs them without anyone asking where they are.
The infinity sign in the logo
In the wordmark, the two e’s are joined into an infinity sign. On its own, that sign is our icon. We chose it for two reasons.
The first is that Freedam does not limit how many files you keep. Plans are sized by storage, so nobody has to count files before a big shoot.
The second is reuse. A photo that has been uploaded and published once gets found again, used in another campaign, and often becomes the starting point for the next piece of work. The loop stands for that cycle.

A free plan with no time limit
You can create a workspace without a credit card and keep using it for as long as you like. Upload a first batch of files, share them, and upgrade only if your library or your team outgrows the free plan.
Hosted by us or by you
Most teams use the version we host and maintain. If your files have to stay on your own infrastructure, the same product is available as a self-hosted installation.
No limit on the number of files
Plans are sized by storage and by the number of administrators. We never count files, and people who only view or download are free on every plan.
